Silhouettes of Africa Pt. 2

Silhouettes of Africa Pt.2 is the conclusion of a two-part collection of work by accomplished South African photographer Mario Moreno.  Mario sums up his work this way, “I constantly travel around the African continent in search of that ‘Perfect Moment’ . . . .”  I think it is safe to say he has succeeded in capturing more than a few ‘perfect moments’.

One of the various Rock Totems found on the Rongai Route to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. The Rongai route is the only route that approaches Kilimanjaro from the north, close to the Kenyan border.

A couple of Egyptian Geese (Alopochen aegyptiacus) in Lake Panic at sunrise. I was shooting hippo silhouettes in the distance when these to birds appeared in my viewfinder. They made a perfect image silhouetted against the sunrise steam in the background. This is a member of the duck, goose and swan family Anatidae. Egyptian geese were considered sacred by the ancient Egyptians, and appeared in much of their artwork. The Egyptian Goose is one of the species to which the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA) applies.
